Our Hawks are
hand-forged one
at a time in the
traditional methods
used in the 18th
and 19th
centuries. All are
unique and one of
a kind. The
materials we use in
the heads range
from
1045,1080,1084, &
5160 carbon steel.
Sometimes we use
a mild steel with a
good quality
carbon steel
forged-welded in
for the cutting
striking edge.
Then differentially
heat-treated to use
or to be
decorative.
Our Hafts are all
hand made from
various hardwoods
such as curly
maple,walnut,oak,
hickory,ash close
fitted,dyed,forged
hardened and
finished &sealed
in a traditional
method of beeswax
and oils. The
end-caps can be
anything from
brass,wrought iron
or poured in place
pewter. Some hafts
are embellished
with
feathers,rawhide,
glass beads,sinew
or anything period
